The Equality and Fairness for All Americans pledge is a nationwide effort by LGBTQ leaders, faith leaders, individuals, businesses, trade associations and civic leader leaders to advance equality and federal non-discrimination protections for all Americans in employment, education, housing, credit, jury service and public accommodations.
Support for LGBTQ non-discrimination protections has continued to grow in recent years across all demographics. Over 94% of Fortune 500 companies have non-discrimination policies that include gender identity and/or sexual orientation.
Additionally, a 2020 poll from the nonpartisan Public Religion Research Institute found that 76% of Americans favor laws that would prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity in employment, housing, and public accommodations.
Businesses of all sizes from Fortune 500 corporations to mom-and-pop shops support the pledge because equality and fairness is not just the right thing to do, but is good for business. The costs of discrimination are too high – we must be inclusive and not exclusive to attract and retain top talent, ideas and innovations.
